The perfect display to delightfully welcome guests to your next garden party or afternoon tea.
This is one of my copycat creations using a lightweight portable easel. I was inspired by a wedding display setup in a local floral wholesale store. Their display featured a mannequin designed to look like a bride dressed in a white gown.
One of our local elected officials hosted an afternoon garden party and several of the ladies rented Southern Belle costumes to wear. Buying a mannequin would be costly and nearly impossible to find. I needed an inexpensive way to recreate the design without breaking my non-existent budget as this was an in-kind donation.
A light bulb went off in my head and I came up with the idea of using a swimsuit display form. I searched at several stores before I found one at Costco's. Of course I had to purchase the swimsuit to get the form but that was a small sacrifice. I wanted it to look elegant so I spray painted the actual form in a gold color. I used a 100% wired nylon fabric panel (Grande Illusion by Berwick) shaping it to look like a Southern Belle gown lined with layers of tulle.
Simply chic!
